Taking a risk

A chance is merely a possibility. It does not mean you will have anything to show for your efforts. What we do with our chances determines all.

Nothing worthwhile occurs by happenstance. It takes effort to realize one's potential. Without energy, the noblest of intentions will inevitably fall flat.

Taking a risk, means you could fail. There is also a chance of success. Defeat could mean a grievous loss, while victory can make it all worthwhile.

If you go out on a limb, it might not sustain your weight. The splintering of wood can herald the breaking of bones. The consequences are real.

Those who play it safe will have their health and little else. Courage does not mean you are not afraid. Rather one faces their fear, and presses on.

Take too many chances, and it could be your doom. It is important to pick the best time to strike. And when you make your move, hold nothing back.

  1. I'm the guy who went to jail because the branch broke! Yeah, life is a dangerous game prone to bumps and bruises. You know an optimist is off his rocker when he tries to give a THUMBS UP but the thumb droops because it's broken.

    1. The reality is that taking risks does not always pan out. So, it is important to pick your battles. Still, we can be safe and warm or we can get things done.

  2. It's all or nothing in the battle of spirit and should be the same in all we do. To compromise and play it safe ensures that our passion fades, we must give it our all at the risk of everything if we are to realize our potential. Waiting for the perfect opportunity is a fools errand for it may never come, but becoming reckless also ensures our defeat. Follow the heart and all shall become clear.

    1. Passion is what fuels us to do great things. Take it away, and we are reduced to lifeless husks. One thing worse than failure is regret.

  3. Simply be prepared to die for what you are trying to do and do your best. Don't over-calculate everything.

    1. Dying is easy, but living is hard. Martyrs are often romanticized, yet they are still dead. So, it would be wise to calculate the risks you take.
