It is always best to want for nothing. That which is desired, can easily become a snare. The entrapped have no say in their affairs, they are merely left to the whims of others.
A person must provide for their own needs. Or else, someone will come along who has their own designs. Then, you become a means to fulfilling their ends.
If you cannot take care of yourself, you cannot take care of anyone else. If you have nothing, then your means to give are limited. Safeguard what little you possess.
This a harsh world, with more takers than givers. That is why you should not leave your fate in the hands of another. Pick yourself up and carry on.
Humans are social creatures, so it is easy to fall into a cycle of dependence. Just remember, what is given can be taken away. You will miss what you had when it is gone.
It is wrong to expect another to bear your burden. Helping others does not mean to do it for them. Instead, show them by your example that a person can stand on their own two feet.
True. People do need to get their affairs in order before they can assist others. It is a long drawn out process that involves spiritual renewal. The audience also matters. Who are you helping? Is it a niece? A son? A friend? Is the target audience... an audience? Who are you to this audience? Are you some great fellow who has lived life and made a success of himself, or are you just some guy writing a blog? When speaking to the masses, make sure that you have not simply taken care of your own but also make sure you have the proper platform; otherwise, your help means very little, and you have essentially wasted your time.
ReplyDeleteEverything you said was true and was stated with a biting wit of sincerity. Is sincerity a bad thing? I hear tell that nice is good and mean is bad. I've also heard that nice is for suckers.
DeleteToo often, people help others to get something out of it. So, they are really helping themselves.
DeleteSincerity is all fine and good, as long as you take responsibility for your actions. Otherwise, you are just deluding yourself.
DeleteSincerity without taking responsibility? Which is it? FREEDOM and JUSTICE are one and the same.
DeleteAs I have stated before, one can be sincerely wrong. And people can be led astray, as a result.
DeleteAs I have stated before, one can be sincerely wrong. And people can be led astray, as a result.
DeleteBeing sincerely wrong is not a sin. The consequences still matter and must be dealt with, but to live a life of second guessing can only lead to psychosis. Do the best you can, but don't stunt yourself out of paranoia. That is a lack of caring for yourself, and you have to have things right at home base first of all.
DeleteBeing sincerely wrong is the definition of being delusional. You actually believe so strongly that nothing can sway you. I know, because I have been there.
DeleteBy "definition" perhaps but untrue. The insincere are not the ones to judge sincerity.
DeleteIf you are sincerely wrong, then you do not know you are delusional. But it does mean that you can cause those who follow you to stumble.
DeleteEverything you said is true and was stated quite eloquently.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shawn. My whole purpose is to relay the lessons I have learned. Hopefully, others will not make the same mistakes.
DeleteHe really does only see things intellectually, Shawn. He totally missed your point.
DeleteWhat is intellectual about passing on what you have learned through experience? Since I know what it means to fall, I am better able to stand.
DeleteIndeed it is always best to want for nothing when we are talking about things of this world, to strive for more in regards to spiritual wholeness and self-improvement is something I take very seriously. The material will always be a carrot on a stick to be dangled in front of us to keep us running in circles, forever enslaved. This is a very harsh world as you said, and I will always strive to rise above it, to be a blind spear of determination to be driven in its cold dead heart. And yes humans are social creatures that are easily led astray to be lost in the cycle, it is up to us to realize what is truly important in this life and not be another sacrificial lamb. Leading by example is the only way to show those who care the path to self-reliance, those who do not care will always be destined to be lost. Very well said Don.
ReplyDeleteI agree in spirit. To not want is a goal for being free of dependence, but it can also be a bridle of apathy. Action, and even interaction, can be tiring and often frustrating, even for social creatures like me. Wanting or needing, the carrot on a stick, gets many to strive and survive, especially when having to deal with disability or hardship.
DeleteThanks, Chris. People will sacrifice you for whatever they believe. But if they have nothing on you, then they can do little to stop you.
DeleteWe all face hardship, Alex. But there are those who will take advantage of your hardships for personal gain. You must take care of yourself, before you can take care of anyone else.
DeletePlease note Chris said EXAMPLE. He meant BY EXAMPLE. I'm just saying...
DeleteA person must stand on their own to be an example to others. That means without believing in anything that will cause them to stumble.
