Cynically hopeful

Life is best when we hope for better, but prepare for worse. Optimism withers in the face of reality. Yet, pessimism is just another way of giving up.

Most people only care about themselves. They will do anything to get what they want. And if you do not give it to them, they will turn against you.

But there are those who look out for others. When someone is in need,  they are there to lend a hand. The world survives because of people like this.

The hardest truth of all, is that both extremes reside within the individual. To sacrifice the good, is evil. It is the evidence of one's own selfishness.

We must recognize that people care, and that they do not. Just because it hurts, does not mean we should not look. Honesty is always the hard way.

Lies do not a refuge make. See things as they are, and do not turn away. For in the midst of this wicked world, there is still a great deal of good.

  1. Refusing to acknowledge that darkness exists does indeed leave us vulnerable, but it does not mean we should dwell on it. Only when become a source of light can we keep the darkness at bay.

    1. It helps to know what you are dealing with, Chris. It is not a simple matter of fighting evil. The question is whether you will sacrifice that which is good to do so.

  2. Acknowledgement of an evil will not stop the evil. They actually want to be acknowledged anyways. Same for good. Acknowledging good without action is useless. Basically what I am saying is that appreciating anything is a flat-line affair. It is a utility for mechanical observation and perhaps a worthless boon to someone's feelings. If you really want to make a difference, stop acknowledging things. Instead, fight for the good and fight against evil. And be prepared to take the bullet for your cause, otherwise, you'll only go so far.

    1. Acknowledging evil merely establishes the obvious. Appreciation is about seeing the person for who they really are. You may not like everything, but sacrificing anything is evil.
