Lust for power

Power is the ability to cause the suffering of another. It is constantly abused, and rarely used for anything of worth. Those who care have no love for such things.

People have a longing to control others. That is why peace will never last. As soon as one ceases hostilities, another seizes the opportunity to strike.

Bending someone to your will is the mark of a tyrant. There are those who break under the pressure. Still others will fight back only to become the thing they hate.

To the victor go the ashes that remain. The lust for control leaves only destruction in its wake. That which was prized becomes hollow and worthless.

In beating evil, you must conquer your own desires. What you want will always be used against you. Those who are satisfied cannot be bought at any price.

If you control a thing, you own it. The fruits of your lust become a grievous burden. You might gain the world, but it will be at the loss of your soul.

  1. Many try to control every aspect of our lives in the name of wealth and power. They worship power without ever realizing how futile and fleeting their lives really are. Those who lust for power will never be satisfied and are doomed to crumble into dust. We have to be careful not to be caught in their wake. Want for nothing of this world and you will not be tempted by the shackles they wish us to wear.

    1. Everything they live for will crumble to dust, Chris. In the end, they will have nothing. Because, in the end, there was nothing inside.

  2. In all things, I hold the human and his choice as a matter of responsibility. Power may come to someone when not even sought. It is not to blame. People who seek power often do so for the wrong reasons, but power in of itself is benign and soulless. It is not the cause of anything. Let us have good people in power. Yes, I know your cynical, but if things work out for the best, that is precisely the outcome that we will have.

    1. Power is just a tool like anything else. It can be used for good or evil. However, the lust for it is strong with the wicked.
