If a person cares, you will see it in their actions. Talk is cheap, and people indulge in it far too readily. Actions are all that is important, and will tell what words cannot.
Is it better to talk about helping, or do something about it? One is passive and the other is active. Almost as if they believe making funny sounds come from their lips can do anything.
You can tell more about a person by what they do, than what they say. Words are a means to communicate. But without action, there is no substance to what is said.
People often say one thing and do another. Only that which is demonstrated is so. What is intended means nothing, until you take the unreal and give it form.
It is possible to make things happen, if you do more than you say. What is told should be the recounting of what is done. Otherwise it is just air between the ears.
We live in a world where words are the weapon of choice. But winning such a battle is a hollow victory. In the end, you have nothing to show but hot air freely expended.

Those that can
Those that can, do; the rest never cease to complain. They seem to think vehemence is a substitute for substance. If they were busy doing, there would be no time to whine.
Like little children, so many vociferate about the unfairness of their situation. They will not lift a finger to help themselves. Yet, they feel the world is beholden to them.
They expect a lot for their nothing. If they were gone tomorrow, who would miss them? Think of the peace and quiet that would follow their passing.
What is up to you... is up to you. We came into this life the same way, and can bring nothing with us when we go. The worth of our existence is judged by what we did with the time we had.
Life is not, never has been, and never will be fair. You get out what you put into it. If you want things to get better, there is a great deal of work to be done.
By saying you cannot do something, you have already admitted defeat. Remember all things are possible. But it requires maximum effort to achieve optimal results.

No worse enemy
There is no worse enemy than oneself. No matter how many battles are won on the outside, it means nothing if you cannot conquer your own demons. The first step is to recognize that you are the problem.
Whatever a person does is right to them. When confronted with their faults, they will rationalize such things as personality traits. And then, they will proceed to defend that which should be condemned.
It is nigh impossible to improve what has already been accepted. Instead, you will turn on those who took issue with it. For the real desire is not to face yourself, but to face down your critics.
People are overly critical, so you cannot always believe what they say. But if nothing good comes from what you are doing, then you should stop doing it. Self-discipline negates the need for correction.
Those full of advice, tend to be the last ones to take it. They will point fingers at everyone else. It is easier to tell someone else what to do, than it is to look at yourself.
If you are going the wrong way, you have but to turn around. Do not look back, for you may like what you see. Just keep going, and leave your failings in the dust far behind.

Balancing act
Creative juices must flow, but without balance they will go everywhere. Constraint is unnecessary, they must merely be focused to be effective. Recklessness is not freedom, it is chaos.
That which is done with heart is never haphazard. While not everything is planned, nothing is arbitrary. There is a goal, no matter how far it strays from the beaten path.
Keeping an open mind, does not mean letting everything spill out. You must understand the rules and appreciate them, before deciding to break them. Tear down only in preparation to build.
We live in a world where standards have been tossed by the wayside. Without form, everything falls to ruin. If everyone speaks at the same time, no one will be heard.
Balance what you want with what you need. Those who neglect their responsibilities think they can outrun the wind. But these things have a way of catching up with you.
Without flow, everything grinds to a halt. That which is not balanced, tips over and makes a mess. Both are required to keep things moving in a positive direction.

Out of control
Human beings are obsessed with control. Yet, from the beginning of our lives to the end, the real decisions are out of our hands. Existence goes where it will, and we are just along for the ride.
The desire for control is a desperate attempt at self-determination. It will suffocate our every endeavor. Life flows in one direction, and swimming against the current only leads to exhaustion.
Individuals are naturally different, so control is inherently artificial. Deciding something is real does not make it so. Any more than believing you can fly makes it safe to jump off a cliff.
Good things happen when you let go and let them grow. That which you control is dead on arrival. Just because it is moving, does not mean there is any life in it.
Some surprises are pleasant ones. Do not let determination stifle real achievement. Whether it was part of the plan or not, beauty is found where you least expect it.
The world turns without us, but we are the ones who give it meaning. If you have anything in a stranglehold, it cannot breathe freely. Burst the dam, and let it flow.

The perfect gift
Christmas is a time for giving. We give of our time and resources to make the season bright. Let us not focus on the gift, but rather on the thought behind what was given.
First you must discern what a person wants, and what they do not yet possess. If you know them, you probably know what they like. The real question is whether they already have it.
Once you have determined the perfect gift, the task is to go about obtaining it. Finding a place that carries said item can be difficult. Thankfully, we have plenty of options for making our purchase.
Often, the gift will need to be shipped. This requires waiting for it to show up, and hoping it will be received in good condition. The earlier you begin the process, the less chances of disappointment.
Presents tend to require wrapping of some kind. So, you will need to obtain the appropriate supplies. Regardless of your skills, you need merely cover the gift to maintain the surprise.
It all comes down to the care you put in for the ones you care about. Giving is not about the price or the popularity of the item. The simplest offering can show the greatest consideration.

Beyond the ordinary
People float aimlessly through life, not knowing where they are going. How many set out on the journey only to lose themselves along the way? If you cannot take care of yourself, you cannot help anyone else.
It is easy to merely subsist, and just let the currents take you where they may. You might want to find your place in the machine, but it is cold and lifeless. How unnatural it is for the living to power what is not...
Being a person, means transcending the mere numbers. What makes you stand out from the crowd? If you care, the distinction will be made clear and your actions will prove it.
Humans are the least and the greatest of creatures. Since they can do better, the shame of failure rests squarely on them. We cannot escape the one staring back at us in the mirror.
To improve, one must take a long hard look. Do not shy away, or you will learn nothing. Honesty means confronting our demons, even when the face they wear is our own.
We have so much, and yet there is so much more we can do. This requires focusing on the task at hand, and setting out to achieve something beyond the ordinary. Do not drift about, set a course and determine to reach your destination.
